What is "Little Church" you might ask? Our committee has been trying to find an alternative to the Sunday school classes. We agreed to start small and incorporate additional ideas as we assess ages and and incorporate additional ideas as we assess ages and interests of youth participating in the program.
The program will begin March 6 after Children‘s Time in "Big Church" and will be housed within the old Kindergarten room off the nursery. It will be open to youth of ALL ages in the church and involve a small Bible lesson, a craft or motor activity, and possibly a music component.
I will be coordinating the program—working on curriculum, volunteer rotation schedule, and programming. Craft materials will be used from existing supplies within the church to keep costs low.
Our plan is to continue the program through summer. This may help with continuity and reduce the issue of recruitment and sporadic attendance. Our committee will do periodic check-ins with families/participants to see if the program is adequately serving the needs of our youth.
